Adult attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a mental health disorder that affects 5-10% of the population . Symptoms include persistent problems with difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity, or impulsive behavior. Adult ADHD can cause both personal and professional issues such as unstable relationships, poor school or work performance, low self-esteem and can lead to other health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
Symptoms start in early childhood and may persistent into adulthood but in many cases, ADHD is not recognized or diagnosed until is person is an adult. Adult ADHD symptoms may also not be as clear as childhood ADHD symptoms as often the hyperactivity component may decrease but struggles with restlessness, lack of focus and difficulty paying attention may continue. Treatment for adult ADHD is similar to treatment for childhood ADHD and including psychological counseling and possibly pharmacologic treatment.
North Texas Direct Primary Care can help evaluate your symptoms for ADHD and consider treatment if appropriate and safe. Please contact us for more information and to get an office visit scheduled. We are a direct primary care clinic meaning we do not bill insurance for our services but rather work with patients for all their primary care needs. Insurance can be used for things like labs or medications. Many of our patients have insurance but choose to enjoy same or next day appointments, longer appointment times if needed, and more accessibility with their physician. Please read out FAQ and pricing section for more information on the direct primary care model.
